JeFreda R. Brown

Dr. JeFreda R. Brown is a financial consultant, entrepreneur, educator, and researcher with more than 20 years of financial and business experience. Her resume includes academic, federal, nonprofit, and corporate positions.

As an entrepreneur, JeFreda has launched a pair of firms: Goshen Business Group and Xaris Financial Enterprises. Through those companies, she has sharpened her expertise in accounting, consulting, federal contracting compliance, and financial literacy education.

As an educator, JeFreda has taught and facilitated courses in corporate finance, personal finance, financial accounting, and managerial accounting at Cornell University, University of Alabama Birmingham, and Indiana Wesleyan University. Through these various roles, she’s taught college students a variety of finance-related topics including financial analysis and management, corporate finance policies, debt, budgeting, saving, investing, GAAP, accounting, and profit analysis.

JeFreda has been featured in numerous print and online media for various industry websites, television and radio shows, blogs, podcasts, and magazines. She is a featured contributor in the book, "I Didn’t Learn That in High School: 199 Facts About Credit Scores." She previously had a weekly financial literacy segment on FUBU Radio. She is the Chair of the Jimmie Hale Mission Board of Directors, and she previously served as treasurer on Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP)’s Board of Directors and also served on WIPP’s Leadership Council.

Education

JeFreda earned a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) with finance and entrepreneurship concentrations from Walden University. She also has an MBA with concentrations in Finance and Accounting from Mississippi College. JeFreda earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Math from Mississippi State University.
